This annual award honors achievements in one or more (or combination) of the following:
-Innovative training program(s) that has an impact upon a department’s mission, goals and objectives;
-Innovative program(s) with widespread implications on community/department and the law enforcement profession;
-Program(s) that most effectively utilizes or deploys resources to accomplish a stated goal;
-Program(s) that affects quality of life issues of the community;
-Program(s) that impacts professionalism in law enforcement;
-Program(s) that promotes community and media relations;
-Program(s) that enhances the spirit of cooperation among agencies of multiple jurisdictions; and
-Program(s) or technique(s) that addresses an operational challenge (i.e., natural disaster, unique crime problem, etc.).
This award is open to all law enforcement agencies in which the head of the agency/department is a member in good standing of the GACP at the time of the award presentation. As of February 2011, GACP will accept only one application per department per year.
Agencies both large and small have an equal chance of winning based on the proposed criteria. However, agencies directly under the control of any member of the GACP Executive Board as well as members of the GACP Executive Board are excluded from being considered.
All documents associated with this award must be submitted electronically and received by the below stated deadline. Superfluous documents, information and details are discouraged in fact; the nomination submission information limits your document package to five (5) pages. Please see the below criteria for submission. The President of GACP and the other distinguished members of the Executive Board will review and select the winner of this prestigious award. The winning department’s name will be announced at the GACP Summer Training Conference.

Nomination Package: You will be prompted to upload your nomination package. Please have your nomination package available before you begin completing the form. When submitting the Dr. Curtis McClung/Motorola Award of Excellence, the electronic nomination package should include the following:
-A memorandum or cover letter from the department/agency head addressed to the GACP Executive Director, Frank V. Rotondo. The memorandum/cover letter must attest that the supporting documentation provided is accurate and ingenuous.
-A narrative (with optional supporting documentation) describing the project(s), process (es) and/or program(s), how the former meets the declared criteria above, the overall success/impact of the initiative, and originality of the program(s).
All nomination materials should be combined to create one (1) single electronic document nomination package. If you wish to include photos and images, please incorporate these items into your nomination package. The form submission page will accept your document only if it is an MS Word or an Adobe PDF file format. Please note there is only one link per entry so you must combine your materials into one document. The agency, department, or nominator must limit your document package to a MAXIMUM of five (5) pages (including the cover letter). Any nomination package submitted over five (5) pages will not considered.
